Your telegram to Hongkong No. 31 [of the 14th October;

Japanese threat to destroy Canton-Kowloon Railway).

Colonial Office have requested Acting Governor to repeat

to you telegrams giving recent figures of arms carried by railway. He is also being asked to furnish you with any possible arguments for regarding traffic as inconsiderable (see my

immediately following telegram).

Please make every effort to restrain Japanese from further attacks on railway.
